Hyaluronic Acid: The Hydration Essential

Hyaluronic acid holds water in the skin, which is what makes a complexion look plumper and feel less tight. Our collection approaches it from two directions. My Mermaid Micellar Water and the Golden Hour Mask deliver hyaluronic acid and sodium hyaluronate directly, for hydration you feel the moment it goes on. Island Ambrosia and Moon Jelly take the longer route, using viola tricolor, also known as wild pansy, which Caley states increases the skin's own hyaluronic acid production. Together they cover immediate hydration and the kind skin learns to sustain for itself.

Direct Hydration

Start where hyaluronic acid is in the formula itself. My Mermaid Micellar Water at $18 uses hyaluronic acid for lightweight hydration while it lifts sunscreen, makeup, and daily buildup with no rinsing, alongside niacinamide, allantoin, and panthenol so cleansing never leaves skin tight. The Golden Hour Mask at $32 carries sodium hyaluronate in its base of kaolin, glycerin, squalane, niacinamide, and aloe vera, working with peptides, bakuchiol, ceramides, and kakadu plum. Apply a thick layer to clean skin, avoid the eye area, leave 10 to 15 minutes, rinse warm, then moisturize. One is a daily step, the other a weekly treatment.

Boost Your Skin's Own

The second route is viola tricolor, or wild pansy, which Caley states increases the skin's natural hyaluronic acid production. It sits in Island Ambrosia Bakuchiol Moisturizer at $52, where it works with bakuchiol for the look of fine lines, probiotics for barrier strength, and kakadu plum vitamin C for tone, in a formula that absorbs quickly despite being deeply hydrating. The same extract appears in Moon Jelly Gel Cleanser Mask at $28, a bouncy jelly that cleanses in 30 to 60 seconds or doubles as a 5 to 10 minute hydrating mask, with probiotics and niacinamide alongside. Both are stated as suitable for all skin types including sensitive.
