How probiotics changed my life

We talk about strengthening the skin barrier a lot and I know that might not mean anything to a lot of people, so I wanted to clarify...

Growing up I always had terrible skin. It was so embarrassing if I wasn’t breaking out everywhere, you could see my scarring. My face felt so oily. I was wearing heavy makeup at such a young age and little did I know, it was making everything worse.

If you told my younger self I could skip foundation in my 30s, I wouldn’t have believed you.

I started taking probiotic supplements in my 20s and it made me feel so much healthier. We heard about using probiotics in skincare a few years ago at a conference for skincare technology. They said this is the future and soon enough probiotics are going to be like anti-oxidants. In other words, in every good skincare product.

So, we tried it. Let me just say, I felt like my skin was normal for the first time in my life.

The best way to describe it is that my skin was finally happy. I didn’t have excess oiliness halfway through a humid Texas morning. My lips stopped feeling dry and flaky. My acne cleared up. My scarring began to diminish. My sensitivities and redness totally vanished.

My mom had rosacea. I remember being younger and wondering why her face was so red. Well, that has since completely disappeared and her skin looks better in her 60s than it did in her 40s.

Continuing to use probiotics is like insurance that my skin is going to stay balanced. Probiotics strengthen the skin barrier. So no more worrying about your skin drying out on a plane or breaking out once you get on vacation.
